Delta Classroom Canines Program
School-based programs that cater for the individual needs of primary and secondary students, utilising best practice animal welfare design.
Classroom Canines is aimed at children of primary or high-school age who would benefit from the therapeutic intervention of a Therapy Dog. We partner with schools and other education providers to deliver collaborative animal assisted education programs to targeted students on a regular on-going basis, or the broader school-population as requested.

Our one-on-one or small group sessions sees one Therapy Dog Team attend weekly during school terms to work with students on individual goals as identified in collaboration with Educators. This might include literacy development, pro-social skills, motor skills, to encourage attendance and increase motivation, increase social connectedness, contribute to improved mental health outcomes.
Our large group sessions, administered through Delta's Paws the Pressure program, support general well-being and stress relief initiatives for students through the provision of several Therapy Dog Teams.​

Modes of Delivery
The Delta Classroom Canines program is delivered in several modes, including:

An annual contract that includes weekly term-based program delivery by one Therapy Dog Team working on very specific goals with 5-15 students per session;

As a package of four or more large group sessions, with up to five Therapy Dog Teams in attendance at each session; and
-
A one-off large group session with up to five Therapy Dog Teams (dependent on group size) in attendance.

Our programs are currently offered in-person in Townsville, Cairns, and South-East Queensland; Hunter/Newcastle, Central Coast and Sydney in New South Wales; the Australian Capital Territory; Albury/Wodonga, Melbourne and Geelong in Victoria; Devonport and Hobart in Tasmania; Adelaide and Perth.
